211 San Diego celebrated National 211 Day: Facing the Future, Together by honoring Jessie Knight, Jr., Executive Vice President of External Affairs of Sempra Energy and his team for their amazing dedication to 211’s mission and commitment to our community.

The event was held in the heart of San Diego at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront on February 11, and more than 350 guests came together. Key community leaders recognized Mr. Knight and his team, including Mayor of the City of San Diego, Jerry Sanders; County Supervisor Greg Cox; and Reo Carr, Associate Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The San Diego Business Journal, as well as the event emcee. In addition, Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm, Inc. and last year’s event honoree, congratulated Mr. Knight through a personalized video shown at the event.

The celebration was deemed a success, as we raised $110,000 through the event, which was supported by more than 310 attendees and 20 event and table sponsors that included $25,000 Platinum Calling Card Sponsors Sempra Energy and Qualcomm Inc. In addition, 211 was awarded a $50,000 challenge grant from Sempra Foundation. We are challenging our supporters to come together to support 211’s mission.

We thank all of our guests, partners and sponsors who continuously work with commitment and dedication to improving the community that we live in. “211’s mission – connecting people to services they need – is being fulfilled, when thousands of San Diegans call each month to get information from trained, professional staff who are stepping up to meet the growing demands of our neighbors in need,” said County Supervisor Greg Cox. Because of your support, together we continue to put critical resources at the fingertips of all residents.
