About Del Mar Community Services

Provides social, recreational, and educational services for residents of Del Mar who are seniors or who have special needs. Offers a shared housing program to match home providers looking to rent rooms to tenants in exchange for rental payments and/or services for reduced rent or no rent payments. Potential tenants undergo a criminal and credit screening. Home providers must live in the city of Del Mar. Provides the Del Mar Rental Assistance Program, not Section 8. A rental subsidy program designed to assist low income individuals/families. Provides seniors the opportunity to consult with an attorney regarding such issues as consumer problems, age discrimination, social security and benefits information, wills, and powers of attorney; appointment required. Offers specialized information and referral services for seniors. Offers recreational services for seniors, including classes and social activities. One wheelchair and one wheelchair ramp are available to loan on a short term basis to residents of the City of Del Mar.

Some programs have age limitations. For shared housing program, home providers must be residents of the city of Del Mar (people seeking a home can be from anywhere in San Diego County). For legal consultation service, must be age 60 years or older or handicapped or a caregiver for a handicapped person.
