About Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy (HICAP)

Provides HICAP counselors who can assist with Medicare claims, appeals and denials, or delays of service or treatment. Also offers information about Medicare HMOs, supplemental insurance, and long-term care insurance. Offers a Web site (www.CalMedicare.org) with information about Medicare in California and a list of HICAP offices throughout the state. Medicare, the federal health insurance program, covers most people age 65 or older, some people younger than 65 with disabilities, and people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
